Google has released a preview version of Google TV Add-on for Android SDK.
With the upcoming OS update for HoneyComb, Google TV devices will be Android-compatible, and developers will be able to develop apps for Google TV using this Google TV add-on and distribute them through Android Market.
However, this preview version currently does not support all features of Google TV, and is only supported on Linux with KVM.
According to the Google TV blog, they had been working with partners from the likes of Turner Broadcasting, NBC Universal, HBO, NBA, Amazon on Demand and Netflix to deliver and optimise content for viewing on the Google TV.
Also,an official website for Google TV has been launched to provide more information about Google TV apps and other features of Google TV.
We have Google on PCs, Google on Phones, and now…. Google TV!
At Google I/O, Google CEO Eric Schmidt unveiled Google TV, which (surprise suprise), marries TV with the Internet. I think of it as a browser on the TV, something like a browser on a giant smartphone.
Google TV makes use of Google search to allow the user to search for videos that he/she wants to watch in TV channels, YouTube, and recordings. Because it is built to access the Internet, the user will also be able to surf the Internet on the TV as well.
In addition, TechCrunch has reported that Google TV will be built into Sony TV this fall in time for the holiday season.
