Skype has announced the release of Skype 5.0 for Windows, which in addition to the usual enhancements, will also now let you connect your Facebook account to Skype and to make phone calls to your Facebook friends from Skype.

Skype-Facebook integration leverages on Facebook Connect; for this to work, you’ll need to login to Facebook from Skype and grant it permissions to access your Facebook information:

After granting Skype permission to access your Facebook information, you can access your news feed from Skype,

and also make phone calls directly to your friends’ land and mobile phones from Skype
