comScore: Social Networking fastest-growing mobile content


According to comScore, social networking is the fastest growing segment of mobile content, be it access through native applications or through a (Mobile) web browser. The statistics are taken from April 2010′s three-month moving average and compared against April 2009.

Quick Facts:

  1. The overall increase in mobile apps usage and browser usage are +28% and +31% respectively
  2. Social networking access via apps increased +280%, while social networking access via browser increased +90%
  3. The top 3 fastest growing categories of mobile apps are: Social Networking, News, and Sports Information
  4. The top 3 fastest growing categories of browser access are: Social Networking, Bank Accounts, and General reference
